Housewife’s Choice Sound System are proud to announce that we will be bringing our full sound system to the Jamaican Music & Food Festival on Saturday 12th March to power the Queens Domain in the Pirates Tavern. With a line-up of some of the greatest DJ’s & performers that Melbourne has to offer, Housewife’s Choice will provide their uniquely feminine touch whilst journeying through all styles of Jamaican music from Ska to Reggae right up to the latest Dancehall selections. Joining them on the Queens Stage will be guests Sofire, Lady Banton, Sista Itations, Troublemekka and Sista Sara.

In the lead up to JMFF, Housewife’s Choice welcome Sista Sara, Troublemekka & also Sam Stacka into the Kiss FM studio for a guest mix where they will go back to back for one and a half hours of power, streaming live on Twitch and playing reggae, dancehall and all things Jamaican.

Housewife’s Choice will also take this opportunity to celebrate International Women’s Day which occurs on the 8th of March each year. In 2022 the global theme is break the bias, with the stated vision to imagine a gender-equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

Troublemekka has been selecting reggae, dancehall and soca music pon di scene since 2005. She has played DJ sets at local Reggae and Dancehall club nights including More Fire, Pressure Drop, Pull Up Selector, I Love Dancehall, Yard Bounce and at various venues in Melbourne.

Whilst passionate about all styles of Jamaican music, Troublemekka has a particular love for the freshest in Caribbean music.

Hailing from Melbourne, Avid Collector and selector of all things bass related, Stacka has been performing for years whether it be fronting a hardcore band in her early adult years to spinning vinyl and throwing down those digital vibes. Co-Founder of Bassline Melbourne, Stacka has been an active contributor to Melbourne’s underground bass music scene and sound system culture for many years. From reggae, drum and bass, hip hop, footwork, grime and UKG (just to name a few!), Sam Stacka is a heavy weight DJ who seamlessly blends multiple genres and keeps the crowd on their toes.

Sista Sara is one of Australia’s heaviest selectors of Jamaican and Jamaican-influenced music. For close to 18 years she has made a name for herself DJing all styles of reggae from foundation, new roots and dancehall and over time has expanded her palette to include her own takes on hip hop, afro-beat, latin vibes and more. Her passion for music has led to a large and varied collection and she seamlessly mixes all of these genres into her sets. Sara is equally at home playing an intimate bar set as she is to rocking a big party or festival on the main stage.
