Tune in tonight 8:30 PM to catch a guest mix from Jake Hughes on Deep End Radio.
Jake’s foray into the world of DJing began for one very simple reason, the realisation that electronic music had the ability to influence his mood and emotions like nothing else. After a while, telling everyone how good a track was simply wasn’t enough, he had to express it through some overpriced CDJ200s and a few dodgy CDs with a collection of his favourite tunes. After cutting his teeth at a series of memorable house parties, he graduated to playing at many of Melbourne’s favourite venues.
Although genre has kind of lost all meaning these days, his sets exist in the realms of House, Techno, Disco, and everything in between. He has a thirst for hypnotic melodies and tribal rhythms, inspired by sounds from around the world and across the ages. Preferring not to take things too seriously, Djing to Jake is simply a way of sharing music that he loves and moves him in some way, with the hope that his audience get the same experience from his sets.
Over the past few years, he has taken the reins at staple Melbourne venues such as Brown Alley, Revolver Upstairs, Pawn & Co, Prince of Wales, Railway Hotel Brunswick, My Aeon, and Glamorama, supporting the likes of Andhim, Butch, Dubfire, Eagles & Butterflies, Kolsch, Kolombo, Michael Mayer, Oliver Koletzki, Niko Schwind, and Laura Jones.
2018 sees the focus shift to Forgery, a new undertaking with some like-minded friends looking to spread their brand of fun across Melbourne. They make their debut with an open-air day party on February 17 at JoyLuck Studio Rooftop.
Event details will be available within Kiss Events soon. Until then check out the Facebook event page.
