He has shared releases and compilations with well-known favourites such as: Eats Everything, Catz ‘N Dogz, Rampa, Jay Sheppard & Tom Demac.
The Elusive Shreddie Murphy a.k.a (and more well-known as) Billy Disney is a Lad from Bristol I came across on one of my musical excursions. I listened to a couple of his tracks and impressed, shot him a message straight up, asking him to be a guest on the show. After a couple of months of back-and-forths, he agreed.
Now, this young man is a total mystery to me. Perhaps due to his total withdrawal within the music scene he once was so keenly a part of. Now, a stranger behind a screen, with really nice taste in music. “I’m pretty much off the radar” he admitted to ma after I started to dig for his history to find a bio.
It’s these kinds of producers/dj’s that intrigue me the most. They’re not in it for the followers or the success, they’re driven beyond their comfort zone because the thing that is driving them is the very same thing they simply cannot live without; music.
When I asked him what culturally inspired his taste in music he replied: “the melting pot of sounds i grew up hearing in bristol. Jungle/hip hop/reggae/acid house/rare groove/funk/disco…”
Since he is other the other side of the globe, he won’t be awake for a proper interview. But he’s made a guest mix exclusively for us, and I can’t wait to air it live. It’s smooth, it’s sophisticated and it definitely reps its own soulful sound.
