CROOKED TP & JDro | KICKIN’ IT WITH KATIJA | NAIDOC WEEK INTERVIEW & SPITFIRE SESSIONS | WED 9TH JULY

This Wednesday for our NAIDOC Week special, we’re proud to be shining a light on First Nations artists and the culture that continues to shape the Australian hip hop scene.

Joining us live in the studio is Naarm-based rapper, dancer and all-round powerhouse Crooked TP — a proud Mutthi Mutthi, Yorta Yorta and Tongan man who has been making waves both on the mic and on the stage. With over 15 years of professional dance experience that’s taken him around the world, Crooked TP brings that same energy and dedication to his music, always repping his people, his story and his culture.

We’ll also be hearing from JDro, an artist we’ve been playing nearly every week on the show — and for good reason. With his smooth blend of rapping and singing, plus a unique Fijian flare woven through his sound, JDro has been consistently proving why he’s one to watch in the local scene.

Together, Crooked TP and JDro recently linked up on the track “Dreamtime at the G”, alongside ZDT, Borringal and Brent Watkins (Culture Evolves) with production by BRZLMBEATZ. The song celebrates the AFL’s Dreamtime at the ‘G, honouring First Nations players, community and culture while reminding us of the importance of creating more culturally safe spaces — on and off the field.

This week’s show is all about celebrating cultural excellence, with music, conversations and stories that highlight the strength, resilience and talent of our First Nations artists in hip hop.
