This Monday on FORUM, we have the delightful artist Tinky (Liz Sonntag), talking about street art and the life of miniatures.
Liz is an installation and street artist who works with miniature figurines, making use of gritty street landscapes, where laneway drains or cracks in a wall morph into comical miniature worlds.
Within her miniature dioramas discarded, vintage or oversized objects are used so that each scene has a comedic undertone, exaggerates a message, or emphasises a playful folly.
Hidden in plain sight, the miniature works are often accompanied by a funny caption with a great pun, that can only be found on her Instagram account.
It has been said that Liz’s miniature dioramas add a sense of surprise and wonder to the streets within a city.
While Liz’s work is diminutive and often undertaken in the street, her miniature scenes are transferable to any space and have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions as well as art festivals.
