Bilal, the multifaceted Philadelphian singer, songwriter, musician and producer cultivated his career though the initial study of jazz music throughout his adolescent years. Bilal fast tracked his career in the new millennium after moving to NYC and collaborating with the likes of J Dilla, Erykah Badu & The Roots. He soon after released an intermediary demo that resulted in the subsequent release of his debut album “1st Born Second” after being promptly signed by Interscope. The album attracted a devout and substantial following, which can namely be credited to the soulful yet classically technical contents of the LP.

Bilal’s early and widespread success lead to a number of collaborations with similarly esteemed artists such as Dr. Dre, alongside successive LP’s throughout the decade. Despite being commonly categorised as a musician of the neo-soul genre, Bilal often rejects these notions in favour of an inclusive label of his music, incorporating jazz, rock, hip-hop, soul, electronic and blues influences. His recent albums showcase a wide variety of talent and musical knowledge, and reinforces Bilal’s rightful prevalence within his musical sphere and amongst his peers.
