Skydiver Records Joins Stormn Norm Live In The Kiss Studio Wednesday 8th June

Stormn Norm invites a solid member of the team behind the brand new record store ‘Skydiver’ on Johnston Street, Collingwood into the studio to spin some of their favourite tracks and have a chat about the shop.

*Ever had a moment with your friends where you all hear a song that’s just so gosh-darn uplifting that it inspires you? As in, it doesn’t just inspire you to give each other sweaty hugs and buy shots but it actually inspires you to get up in the morning, scrape the bile from your tongue, and start making something? For Tom Moore, Mike Wale and Mark Free that song is Ben Richardson’s Italo-disco classic ‘Skydiver’. All these guys have been collecting great records for a decade or more and Tom tells me they feel it’s time to release a few of them back into circulation for others to enjoy. The space is small but immaculately curated with crates full of new and second-hand disco, house, techno and afrobeat, as well as some weirder stuff for sampling. They’re also selling some rare records that they’ve displayed on the wall like trophies. Oh, and apparently it’s one of the only places in town with a de-warper for fixing any vinyl that’s stared into the sun for too long. The best bit is that these guys really know their stuff and clearly get a thrill out of helping you find that life-changing new record. In fact they like it so much that they’re open late every Friday so you can go hang out and listen to local and international guest DJs play while you browse.*
