In enters Passion filled with Creativity. Drop music in the mix and you could quite possibly have a purpose to raise vibrations. Given our fast evolving world and revolutionary rise of consciousness, special souls around the world are awakening to their truth. Some are doing it with their educated skills, some with learned talent and others still with inherent ancient gifts.  What’s important is that they are following their Hearts.

DJ CMoney7 from Johannesburg, is a talented artist who’s making waves in the music scene in South Africa.

He took time out to let us into his journey of truth.  Here’s what he has to share with the world.

  1. How did it all start for you?

Music for me began at a young age. I started developing drum sounds from the age of 3 but because we couldn’t afford a drum kit I used to turn the empty ice cream tubs into my drum kit. I learnt at that age that the different tub sizes would give off different sounds and that got me excited to discover this gift further.

  1. What do you most love playing the most?

I enjoy playing those deep dance grooves with a touch of soulfulness because I believe music should not only be felt in the body but in the soul as well. Being an open format DJ I also enjoy playing Hip Hop and RNB so that everyone gets to enjoy the DJ CMONEY7 experience.

3) Favourite Food?

I am a South African Indian so with that being said I have been exposed to a lot of different an amazing dishes here but if I had to pick one dish I enjoy the most Spaghetti Bolognaise will have to be that #1 pick.

  1. Who’s your muse in the music world?

I look up to a lot of producers/djs and musicians from around the world so I can’t really pick one person but some early influencers growing up would have to be Swizz Beatz, Dr. Dre and the Soul Candi Family in South Africa.

  1. Favourite quote?

One Thing about Music When It Hits You Feel No Pain

  1. How would you describe the dance scene in Sydney?

I am yet to Visit Sydney but from what I see on social media the people are accepting of good music. Booking agents get at me to do a show ‘down under’ J

  1. Favourite Colour?

Blue

  1. What single night out has been the most memorable for you? As a DJ? As an attendee?

As a DJ my most memorable night was at my residence Timeout Sports Bar it was there birthday and well all I can say is everyone looks forward to their birthday bashes now. The crowd was amazing everyone had an amazing time, it was a highlight for me.

As an attendee I would say seeing Lil Wayne live was an amazing show. He is a true performer and being a lover of hip hop as well he gave us a great performance.

  1. What are your future plans for your music career?

Currently I am working on my first single and looking to release it soon. I have also been creating beats so if any artists are looking to collaborate drop me a message.

  1. What is your advice to emerging talent and how they can set aside any fears and pursue their dreams with courage?

The first thing is if you believe in God than believe that all things are possible. Secondly passion, If, your passion for the music doesn’t drive you than you won’t last long in this industry. Lastly I would say is practice, practice, practice. Knowing every part of your playlist would help you in those tight situations.

  1. Favourite holiday destination?

Amsterdam

  1. What are the things bug you about the DJ scene?

The thing that bugs me the most is not taking your craft seriously and doing this under the pretense of just getting the “girls” or becoming “famous”. Some of us are trying to push a music culture that can help lives and I feel this has been lost in the current dj scene.

  1. Name one track that never gets old for you no matter how many times you hear it?

It’s a gospel rap song by Kirk Franklin the Gods Property crew and Salt called Stomp

  1. Where can readers find you online?

You can find me on all social media platforms as djcmoney7. My music can be found on Mixcloud.

  1. If you could get eternally stuck in one year’s music scene, which year would that be?

The 50s or 60s. I love live music so in those times live music was used in almost every composition so I would fit in well with the likes of Miles Davis and Frank Sinatra

  1. Who do you aspire to and who influenced you the most?

Some influences growing up would have to be Swizz Beatz, Dr. Dre and the Soul Candi Family in South Africa. Growing up in South Africa has also exposed me to many different cultures of music so that has also influenced my sound as an artist.

  1. Any parting thoughts for emerging artists?

Never give up on what makes you happy. If it be music, fashion, food follow that dream with all your heart and do it better than anyone else can. Be the best you can be and most of all don’t forget to pray.
