Seeing that Summer is on the horizon, Beth Grace rounded up her pals to throw one huge SUMMER BASH down in St Kilda, at Veludo, on 3rd December. (Details here)
So to get us pumped for the night of fun, Beth Grace brings in the firey guns of Vann Goldie, Laura Jackson, Casey Leaver & Groove Empress on air! Who are they? Well…
Vann Goldie:
Beginning her musical journey as an avid violinist, Vann Goldie formed a true appreciation for the formulation of music and sound. The way in which a song can transport the listener to a place or time in ones life is truly inspiring. Music, for Vann Goldie is the soundtrack o life, and has always been a dominating inspiration on her
It was her move to London in 2007 that set her on the journey that is dance music. Vann Goldie was instantly drawn to the East London way of life and the music scene showcasing some of the music industry biggest names. The East London Culture of thrown together parties, hip grit fashion and hypnotic musical vibe grew Vann Goldie in and Enabled her to gather an eclectic flavor in music.
Her vibrant personality and love of music gives her an energy behind the decks that is contagious. She has earned a reputation for her club sets full of deep, vocal, tech house, and minimal and disco funk tracks.
Groove Empress:
Upon their meeting only 8 months ago, Georgia and Sarah discovered a mutual love for groovy tunes, which bonded them instantly. Their friendship flourished as they embarked on a mission to refine their DJ skills and when they were asked to play their first gig in June this year, Groove Empress was formed.
Within the space of a few months, this duo has managed to land sets in some of Melbourne’s most vibing hideouts. From disco through to house and right through to a bit of filthy techno, you never really know what to expect from these girls but they can guarantee you’ll be grooving.
Casey Leaver:
You might not know her as the girl swimming in spaghetti, making famous boiler room appearances or even starring in a hit music video, but chances are you’ve already crossed paths with Casey Leaver. This upcoming DJ from Melbourne has been living, breathing, dancing, working, pushing and soaking up the dance scene in her city since the days electro-house began. Never one to shy away from a good party or crazy hair colour you’re probably more used to seeing her work the dance floor, but as of this year you can catch her workin’ and twerkin’ the DJ controls.
Casey, or DJ Carey after a few Vodka Cranberries, uses her knowledge of the scene to pump out the right tunes and the right time and makes the space in front of the DJ booth some hotly contested property. Word is spreading fast and she’s already played at institutions such as OneSixOne, Circus, Veludo, Lucky Coq, The Windsor Castle Hotel, Campari House & Backroom and on top of that runs the highly successful Disco Volante nights at OneSixOne. She truly knows how create some fun (just see her get a hold of the smoke machine) – and whilst she can muster a world-famous frown, it’s all smiles when she’s behind the decks.
Laura Jackson:
After years of dancing and working in the club industry there was no doubt that the love for this scene and the people within gave me the push to explore something more.
Being constantly surrounded by creative talented musicians, her love for music transported her from the Middle of the dance floor to behind the decks. From playing at home on her brothers CDJs, she found herself lucky enough to share her music at some favourite venues around Melbourne.
“I’ve always had a love of music, and over the past few months have started searching for different tracks and influences that inspire, tug the heart strings or simply make me want to dance!”
This lady can’t go past a ‘feel good’ house track, heavy baseline or anything accompanied by a good vocal.
