BLACKWELL | INTERVIEW & GUEST MIX | CANCELLED COLLECTIVE THE RADIO SHOW | WED 10PM

BLACKWELL JOINS CANCELLED COLLECTIVE THE RADIO SHOW THIS WEDNESDAY AT 10PM.

Born and raised on both sides of the Tasman, with roots in Australia and New Zealand, Jake Blackwell was destined for a life in music. Influenced early by his Pop, a renowned pianist in Christchurch, Jake’s passion for rhythm was sparked by the sounds of piano keys and cassette tapes recorded off the radio.

Spending his teenage years in Melbourne’s suburbs, Jake fell for hip-hop and rap before discovering house music. Inspired by legends like Todd Terry, Moodymann, Fatboy Slim, Flume, and Armand Van Helden, his lovefor electronic music flourished. At just 16, a lucky radio win gifted him his first set of decks – a pair of CDJ-400s and a DJM-400 – propelling him into Melbourne’s club scene.

Armed with his brothers ID, Jake immersed himself in the city’s nightlife, soaking up sets from local icons like Generik, Boogs and Mike Callander. By 18, he landed his first residency at Dakota, spearheading Lemon Squash Thursdays. From there, he played across Melbourne’s most iconic clubs, including Circus, Billboards, Q Bar and Brown Alley.

After stepping back to explore new horizons, Jake has returned to Melbourne’s dance floors with a renewed passion and fresh energy. With years of experience and a deep archive of music, Blackwell is now deeply rooted in Naarm and is set to make waves once again.

Since returning in 2024 Jake has played at the highest level spots in Melbourne; New Guernica, Glamorama Bar, Lucky Coq, Killing Time and Laundry Bar to name a few. He and his counterpart have also started an events brand Pulse. Hosting monthly takeover parties, 2025 is set to be a huge year.

Blackwell has been working in Studio with some of Melbourne’s most commonly known producers and his first release EP to be released mid year. Honing his sound with inspirations from overseas juggernauts such as Toman, George Smeddles & Franky Rizardo, expect deep cuts and fresh minimal house to hit your ears.
