KWABO means “welcome” in Fon, a dialect from Benin. Beyond its literal meaning, KWABO encompasses the welcoming spirit of guests by members of the villages in both Togo and Benin. The local community would gather to celebrate the guests’ arrival by dancing, singing and playing music.
Produced by Gracieuse Amah, Founder and Creative Director of Kwabo Events, KWABO Fest returns from July 19th to September 21st 2025. This year the program includes 9-week artist led incubator program in 4 different artforms, a cultural talk, a performance night featuring incubator participants and local artists, djs, photography exhibition and video projections, a community meal and more…
As the previous editions, Kwabo festival is culminating with public performances and events during the week of international peace day. You would have understood Kwabo Festival is all about community and peace building using arts as a medium to foster cultural dialogue and understanding while providing outlets for creative self-expression.
Your cultural heritage is your strength, your richness, and a crucial piece in shaping the collective. You all have a role to play in writing our collective story of belonging. Celebrate the power of coming together as one.
Reflect, explore and express your cultural identity. No prior experience is required. All you need to be is a willing, curious human who wants to be involved in something creative and fun!

Every OTHER Friday starting July 25th…Buckle up for a night of comedy that’s raw, real, unfiltered, and unapologetically hilarious.
Eight top-tier improvisers take the stage to share wild, awkward, and sometimes downright tragic personal stories, each one inspired by a suggestion from you, the audience.
The cast will then spin these tales into a full-blown improvised comedy. What begins as a personal tale quickly explodes into a rollercoaster of absurdity, wild characters, and a fearless take on just how ridiculous (and painful) life can be.
They will prove that even our darkest, weirdest, most uncomfortable moments are worth laughing at. Because when life gives you lemons… they make improv.

The first art residency at Solace is hosted by Brendan Eccles, a Melbourne-based artist who explores his painting journey through textures, colours and crayoned multifaceted faces that punctuate his creations. He previously held a solo show at Lupine Studio in April and returned for a group exhibition there in December 2024.
A self-taught painter and playful with this medium, Brendan experiments with different techniques to manifest his harmonious pigment combinations, developing brush movements that will invite curious minds to imagine and contemplate intuitive shapes.
The opening night on July 31 (6pm–1am) will feature an immersive fusion of art and sound, with a 2 hour vinyl DJ set from the artist alongside local favourites including Pois Pois Chic, Jack Danzey, the Prog Dogs [KISS FM] and DJ Glug. Brendan’s work will be on display throughout August.

The Return to the Chamber| Friday, August 1 | New Guernica
After their first great summoning, the four househeads of Naarm vanished into the winter winds — not in silence, but in search of the perfect beat.
Jnett, attuned to the pulse beneath the earth, wandered through the city’s twilight — collecting forgotten vibrations and lost frequencies, sounds capable of shifting time and space with a single drop.
Zepherin Saint travelled by starlight, offering sonic rituals to distant tribes. His message moved through drum and spirit, deep and healing lifting hearts wherever it landed.
Arlen Da Silva, fierce and untethered, crossed oceans of rhythm, diving deep into basslines and rising through euphoric highs. Each set, a weapon forged. Each night, a dance floor conquered.
Chris NG, the timebender, disappeared into the hidden archives — ancient crates and long-locked libraries of sound. He returned with grooves that awaken memory, and stories encoded in wax, loud enough to stir the sleeping past.
Seasons shifted. Winter held the city in its hush.
But music, like myth, never fades; it waits, watching.
Now, as August’s first fire flickers to life, they return.
To the sacred chamber of New Guernica, where wood meets wire and echoes become spellwork.
This is no ordinary night.
They come not just to play, but to conjure, a rite of rhythm, a communion of the faithful.
One night.
Four selectors.
Another rare convergence.
Another dancefloor to be claimed.
The story continues…

🛸 COLOUR OF SOUND PSYCHEDELIC WAREHOUSE PARTY 🛸
✨ Psytrance • Visuals • Misfits • Ruckus
After years of deep space hibernation, the time is finally right to bring back one of the most infamous psychedelic brands of the scene, the return of the Colour of Sound is here…
Almost 15 years ago, the very first intergalactic artist to ever grace the Colour of Sound stage was none other than U-Recken — the legendary psytrance voyager from Dacru Records! The strong connection with U-Recken continued after his first set with us, where Colour of Sound collaborated with his Tree of Life Festival Turkey event & journey via Australia and the world…
So for the grand return, on Saturday the 23rd of August, Colour of Sound reunite with U-Recken performing a MASSIVE 4 HOUR EXTENDED SET, diving deep into the hypnotic realms of pure psychedelic trance in the industrial belly of Melbourne’s most iconic venues The Industrique for a wild night of cosmic chaos and laser-fuelled lunacy!
This ain’t no regular hoe-down — it’s a psychedelic stampede inside a fully decked-out warehouse dimension…
Expect our signature Colour of Sound experience with the full shebang:
✨ FULL SCALE PSYCHEDELIC DÉCOR & VISUALS
deeply trippy, tasty, and totally over the top
🌍 INTERGALACTIC PSYTRANCE HEADLINER
teleporting straight from the global psyverse
💃 ASTRAL MISFITS & EARTHLINGS ALIKE
a gathering full of weirdos, wanderers, and wild-hearted souls
Deep bush vibes, smack in the industrial heart of the city.
Mark it. Tattoo it. Yell it into the void.
This isn’t just a party. It’s journey from the beginning of Colour of Sound’s story, all the way through to now. It’s a full-blown psychedelic voyage…

U-RECKEN’S STORY:
As a dedicated psychedelic artist, U-Recken has long captured the true essence of intelligent, psychedelic, soulful psytrance.
His musical journey began with the now-classic debut album Aquatic Serenade (2006), followed by Deeper into Man (2008). After joining Belgium-based Dacru Records in 2011, U-Recken released a string of acclaimed works, including A Light at the End of the World (2013), Flames of Equilibrium, and Nothing is Sacred (2017), along with numerous EPs and singles that continue to resonate on dancefloors worldwide.
In 2026, U-Recken celebrates 20 years of the project, kick-starting a global anniversary tour with a special return to Australia – the same place he first toured back in 2006. Known for closing countless doofs & festivals with unforgettable DJ sets, U-Recken’s deep understanding of dancefloor dynamics has earned him a reputation as a highly skilled and emotionally impactful DJ.
Beyond the stage, Yaniv Ben Ari (U-Recken) is also a visionary entrepreneur and community builder. He co-founded the Tree of Life Festival in the picturesque mountains of Turkey and launched innovative platforms like FeedFreq & BigFreq Academy.
Two decades in, U-Recken is still evolving- and, in many ways, just getting started.

OUR COLOUR OF SOUND STORY:

Hidden Tunes is a bold Mandarin musical blending Mando-pop and traditional Chinese instruments, performed with live English subtitles. This original work premiered in 2024 as part of La Mama’s Festival of Mother Tongue, receiving critical acclaim and a Green Room Award nomination for “Outstanding Artist in a Leading Role” (Lansy Feng).
Set in a prestigious music academy and inspired by the #MeToo movement, the story follows the ripple effects of a sexual harassment case on campus – examining how friends, fellow students and professors respond when the truth unravels. As silence spreads and pressure builds, how would the choices of all the “bystanders” shape the story?
Back with new songs, richer stories and a striking new stage design, this year’s Hidden Tunes invites you into the heart of a conversation we can no longer avoid. Will you stand by, or speak up?
