Ahead of her appearance at The Celebrating Whitney Show at The Palms at Crown this Friday 15th July, Talarni joins Timmy for a chat and live performance of a Whitney song she will be performing on the night.
Throughout the course of her musical career, Tilarni has won over the hearts of music lovers from all walks of life. Performing at a variety of venues around Melbourne, making dozens of appearances with her band BlackCherie in Melbourne’s 5-star venues, as a solo artist on national TV on Good Morning Australia, all the while recording new singles, Tilarni has earned the admiration and affection of countless fans, serving as both inspiration and role model. Her current musical endeavour “Celebrating Whitney” is a show of her musical prowess in bringing to life the music of the late Whitney Houston (1963-2012).
Growing up in a totally different culture to Whitney Houston, Tilarni nevertheless shares a love for gospel music like her pop idol. Looking back, Tilarni first started singing from a young age in church with her family. After scoring a grand-finalist position in Yamaha’s national Australian song writing competition for battle of the bands, with bandleader David Senn, she joined the exquisite voices of the Melbourne Gospel Choir and backed many celebrity artists on national TV shows for a period of 2-3 years.
Tilarni continued to craft her recording projects with singer/songwriter/producer David Senn on songs like “Power To Shine” that made its way into the national TV broadcast of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Not long after a personal set-back, she found herself taking refuge in church where she, collaborated with a vibrant creative team recording three live gospel DVDs directed by musician/songwriter/producer and husband David Senn, that aired on Foxtel’s Australian Christian Channel over a period of 4-5 years 2004-2008.
Tilarni believes that “Music is a gift given for a purpose. Entertainment is for enjoyment and to enrich people’s lives. The gift can make way for a platform by which lives can be influenced positively or negatively. I want to use my gift to enrich lives and make people happy.”
In pursuit of a new season of music making as an independent artist, she started recording compositions written by singer/songwriter/producer David Senn, collaborated with Artist and Producer Andrew De Silva (Winner of AGT 2012). These songs made way for her to release them as an independent artist in the genre of EDM, displaying her soulful twist on these songs “Rock the World” and “Survivor”. The songs are available on itunes.
