THE KISS LIME LIGHT SHOW | HONEYSMACK | 8.30PM FRIDAY 10TH OCT 25

Honeysmack joins Timmy Byrne on The Kiss Lime Light for a chat and to do a special live performance streamed on Facebook, Instagram and Twitch. So listen up and/or watch it all live from 8.30pm this Friday 10th October.

David Haberfeld, aka Honeysmack, is a pioneer of Australia’s electronic and techno scenes, known for raw, hardware driven live sets that fuse acid, techno, and experimental sounds.

Since emerging from the 1990s underground, he’s stayed fiercely independent and deeply rooted in the culture that shaped him. Bringing a punk rock philosophy to live techno, Honeysmack thrives on spontaneity, energy, and chaos. Using drum machines, synthesizers, and modular gear, he crafts dynamic, evolving performances in real time; no pre-programmed tracks, no safety nets.

His shows are wild, unpredictable, and closer to a live band than a traditional DJ set.

Considered a disrupter and renegade, he continues to challenge conventions and champion live electronic performance as immediate, physical, and fearless. Haberfeld now channels that same spirit as Product Innovator at Melbourne Instruments, helping design expressive, hands-on music tech.

Previously he has worked as an academic teaching electronic music at leading Australian universities and holds a PhD in Acid Techno (yes, really).

“Maverick acid-house and techno producer David Haberfeld, aka Honeysmack, is one of the constellation of talents who gave Melbourne the name Techno City in the ‘90s. His dedication to the art of analogue wizardry is legendary, especially as he was one producer who believed the essence of dance music was in live performance, not DJing; and he was known for bringing a punk-rock spirit to electronic music. His 1999 classic Walk on Acid is instantly recognisable for its sample of Dionne Warwick and Burt Bacharach’s Walk on By” — Jim Poe Inthemix 2007.
