SYNTH BABE RECORDS AND NODE TECHNO COLLECTIVE TEAM UP TO LAUNCH BABES OF…Volume 1/ MELBOURNE OVER THE AUSSIE SUMMER

Synth Babe Records in collaboration with Node Techno Collective are set to launch Volume 1 Babes of…Melbourne – Part A and B throughout the summer, aiming to not only raise funds for the International Women’s Development Agency (IWDA) but also showcase an impressive group of emerging female electronic producers and front-women, “Melbourne is brimming with emerging female electronic artists. We are launching the Babes of…Melbourne compilation in two parts over the summer in collaboration with Node Techno Collective” says Anya AKA Ninoosh. Part A on December 1st and Part B on February 1st. Proceeds from the Bandcamp sales will go to the International Women’s Development Agency (IWDA). More city-based compilations will feature from the label in 2017 including Malmö, Sao Paulo, Berlin and Rejkyavik. The original idea was pitched to Anya from Andre Jones, who heads Node Techno Collective, who wanted to work in solidarity with emerging female electronic artists and collaborate on this project. Proceeds from the Bandcamp sales will go towards the International Women’s Development Agency. IWDA is committed to equal representation for women at all levels in civil and political life. Globally, women hold less than 22% of seats in national parliaments. As of January 2015, 10 women have served as heads of state and 15 as heads of government. This power imbalance cuts across all sectors in every country in the world. IWDA works to break down barriers to women’s equal power. They collaborate on research to understand attitudes towards women in leadership, and amplify that knowledge to global networks and decision-makers. We also work to develop leadership and advocacy pathways for women young and old to increase the active incorporation of women’s views and ideas at all levels of decision-making. Artists to feature on the two parts include Ok Sure, Ninoosh, Louise Terra, S A A T S U M A, Paradigm, LACUNA, KT Spit, Chiara Kickdrum, Patricia Kay, Pillow Pro, Maya, Bek Davis, Symmetrix, Sophia Sin, Misumami, Khali Carter, Emah Fox and The Vainglories.

“Visibility is the key to dismantling stereotypes like the idea that there aren’t many women interested in electronic music. This, in turn, inspires more young women and girls to get involved.” wise words from Kaltès – a techno artist and event promoter from Germany who focuses on putting on all-female line-ups and events.
