Luke McD is a Melbourne based DJ, booker and event manager, known for his ability to deliver the right sound at the right time.
Music was always part of Luke’s life. From studying trumpet and performing in bands through to his transition into electronic music. He remains grounded in both technical skill and a deep understanding of rhythm, composition and crowd dynamics.
During his time spent as a booker and DJ, Luke developed a rare, full-spectrum perspective of the dancefloor. This experience continues to define his approach, shaping an instinct for delivering the right sound at the right time in the right environment, whether behind the decks or behind the scenes. Over the past 20+ years, he has played a key role in programming and performing across many of Melbourne’s most respected venues and events, while also curating boutique experiences focused on atmosphere and musical integrity.
His sound moves fluidly through house, techno, disco and deeper underground selections, with an emphasis on groove, flow and dynamics. Luke is known for reading a room with precision. He builds sets that evolve naturally, balancing energy, restraint and connection to create lasting moments.
Throughout his career, Luke has shared lineups with a wide range of influential artists including Theo Parrish, Fatboy Slim, Thomas Schumacher, Carl Craig, Radio Slave, Late Nigh Tough Guy and 2manydjs.
International tours across Europe between 2006 and 2008 saw Luke perform in cities including London, Berlin, Barcelona and Brussels, with appearances across clubs, warehouse parties and festival environments, including a guest appearance during Love Parade.
In 2007, he co-founded Smash Bang Records alongside Melbourne producer Ehsan Gelsi, creating a platform to showcase forward-thinking electronic music. The label continues to release and distribute via Beatport, supported by a dedicated global audience.
Following a brief hiatus, Luke has returned with a renewed appreciation for the craft. His current sound and approach are rooted in experience, musicality and authenticity, focused on creating sets that resonate beyond the dancefloor.
