*DEEP DIGGING* Our first guest of the year is @letxequaly Pierre B is an Australian artist who works across a number of different disciplines and media from music to graphics to video and even old-school animation. He is the person behind Let X=y which is a new electronic music project based on the peri-urban fringe of Melbourne/Naarm. Hunkered down in the studio near the remnants of the ancient Carrum Carrum swamp on Bunwurrung land he uses hardware synths and sequencers, modular systems, FX boxes, and tapes all fed into Ableton to experiment with leftfield beats, sonic textures, samples and drones. Let X=y have a six track mini-album ‘Digital Natives with Analogue Hearts’ that was released at the end of 2022 on Bandcamp and global streaming.
Pierre also performs as The Faux Professor doing event hosting and curating. From 2015-2017 Pierre assisted Kingston Arts in hosting the Transmission series of free electronic music events held in municipal gallery spaces. Transmission featured artists such as Kiara Kickdrum, Audego, Virtual Proximity, Ai Yamamoto, and Mixer with accompanying visuals Jean Poole and Bob Jarvis.
Pierre has been involved in many exhibitions and his artwork is in a number of private and institutional collections. He has previously had releases on Dorobo and Iridium records and recently an early work has been included on the retrospective vinyl compilation Antipodean Anomalies 2 released by Left Ear Records here in Melbourne/Naarm.
