This month we have a guestmix from Monococ / Mandshoua.
Monococ: Dark Techno Producer and DJ
Monococ, also known as Wolfgang Kaiser, has carved out a niche for himself within the dark techno scene. As a solid producer, he creates dark psy techno with a unique style and sound. His consistent releases on some of the industry’s best labels, including Subios, Crypt, Alula, Alpaka, and Shadow Wulf, have garnered him recognition and respect.
Early Beginnings and Musical Exploration
In 1993, Wolfgang Kaiser embarked on his music career as a producer. He acquired a Korg 01/W synthesizer and quickly immersed himself in the world of electronic music. His passion deepened as he explored various genres and honed his skills.
From “Emperor” to “Monococ”
Initially, Monococ released trance music under the alias “Emperor.” However, he soon realized that techno music resonated with him more profoundly. In 2012, he reinvented himself as “Monococ” and began producing techno, minimal, and tech-house tracks.
DJ Career and Legendary Collaborations
Monococ’s DJ career has taken him to numerous clubs, including the iconic Disco Airport in Frankfurt at the legendary “Dorian Grey.” He has shared the stage with legends like Paul van Dyk. In July 2014, he joined forces with artists Ben Champell, Patrick Hero, and others, leading to exciting collaborations.
Noteworthy Releases and Recognition
Monococ’s tracks have found their way into influential playlists. In 2015, his releases on Phunk Traxx caught the attention of Richie Hawtin and UMEK. The following year, he took a significant step forward with his “Elements” EP, released on Moonplay Records. The EP featured a remix by JSPR, an artist associated with Minus Records.
Monococ’s journey continues, fueled by passion, creativity, and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of dark techno.
