Joining us in the studio Wednesday 26th August is Melbourne MC 01.EKKA, an independent artist keeping the foundations of golden era hip hop close while finding his own creative ways to push the culture forward.

Known for thoughtful lyricism over hard kicks and vinyl loops, EKKA has shared stages with names like Brad Strut and Posseshot, while building a reputation for thinking well outside the box when it comes to presenting his music.

From bringing a live choir into his shows and scaling buildings, to recently riding a horse through Melbourne CBD for his new album CONTRA — it’s safe to say he knows how to make a statement.

We’ll be getting into CONTRA, the ideas behind the project, his approach to hip hop and why the visual and creative world surrounding his music is just as important as the bars themselves.

Of course we’ll be spinning plenty of his music throughout the night, and 01.EKKA will also be stepping into the SPITFIRE SESSIONS for a live performance.
