Kiss FM - Dance Music Australia

John Course | Interview with Timmy | 5pm Weds 16th Sept 20

Timmy Catches up with John Course who currently has the Number 1 track on the Kiss Chart – “Just A Little”.

Having been part of the house music scene since its emergence in Australia, John Course first came to prominence by winning the Victorian leg of the DMC turntablist competition, a feat he repeated two years in a row.  Moving from turntablist roots, he embraced house music from the time it emerged and was listed in ‘DJ Magazine’s’ first ever ‘Top 100 DJ’s’ list in 1993.  He has gone on to co-found Vicious Recordings, produce original music, mix over a million CD’s for ‘Ministry of Sound,’ ‘OneLove’ & ‘Vicious.’ John has DJ’d in every corner of the country, had a national dance music radio show in Australia for over 7 years, co-founded private event booking agency ‘Request Artists’ and most recently, hosts his own webcast during the Covid-19 isolation period.  An incredibly popular weekly 3-4 hour LIVE DJ Set, which has been keenly followed by clubbers past, present & future, for the last 25 weeks! It’s the go-to Saturday night ‘Together at Home’ Clubbing experience.

Between all of the above, while running Vicious and working on Request Artists, John also gets the urge to produce music.  He was part of Blackout (whose hit track: ‘Gottta Have Hope’ was a huge club record globally in the late 90’s), half of Electro Funk Lovers & has done solo productions under his alias J.A.C. or simply as John Course.  John also did a remix for Defected Records on a remix of King Unique’s now classic house track: ‘Love Is What You Need’ with Andy Van back in 2000.  His most recent remixes have been Rave Radio’s ‘You’re Making Me High’ and Sgt Slick’s massive Summer hit: ‘Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!’

John’s NEW solo release, is a house music cover of the popular Liberty X R&B hit: ‘Just A Little.’ It takes his dance floor aesthetic & mashes it with the hooks from the classic. Rolling bass, crisp clean drums & a jacking groove, combined with the sexy vocals, bringing this classic hit back to life, with a fresh house music edge.  Add to the Original a more club focused Dub, not to mention cracking remixes, bringing super sweet piano house vibes from ‘Mind Electric’ and this is set to get many a dance floor working ‘Just a Little’ once again!

“Given all the goings on in the world right now it was great to be able to use some time positively on not only the webcast each week, but also to get back into the studio” – John Course.
