MATT GUY
17 Years ago Matt Guy purchased a pair of the legendary Technics 1200’s and started digging around his local record stores in Melbourne – searching for a sound that resonated with him. Fast-forward to now and those Technics still sit proudly in his studio, and a unique collection of house and techno grooves have found their place amongst his music collection.
The decision was made to have a serious shot at sharing his musical journey at great parties, on big systems and with some well and truly up for it crowds. Subtrakt forefathers Adam Swain & Rikki Newton gave Matt his first big chance to play after Kenny Larkin at one of their Subtrakt parties
This same event gave Matt the opportunity to open for Hernan Cattaneo and it fuelled his drive to share his music with a crowd, it wasn’t long until he elevated the dance floors of Brisbane’s best clubs including The Family, Coco at The MET, the iconic Empire Hotel and Capulet. Matt’s progression as an artist has seen him play on the same bills as Nastia, M.A.N.D.Y. Marcel Dettmann, Marco Effe, Minilogue, Matthias Meyer, &ME, Guti, DJ W!LD, Archie Hamilton, DJ T, Rossko, Detlef, Lauren Lane, Charlotte De Witte, John Dimas, BEC, Carl Craig, Matthias Tanzmann, Hector Couto, Gorge, and a host of other international and interstate artists. Over the years he has played stand out sets in the bush including Rabbits eat lettuce, Elements, Subsonic & Dirty Feet to name just a few.
He now resides in Melbourne, and maintains his Dragonfruit residency whilst running his own event Hi Hat Heaven alongside Late Night Musics label boss B- tham. Recent gigs have seen Matt play at S.A.S.H, Breakfast Club, Renegade @ My Aeon, Red Moon, Circus Sundays, Progression Sessions, Eat the Beat & Hi Hat Heaven.
