DAVID HABERFELD (HONEYSMACK, ARTIST / PRODUCER / LECTURER)
David has more than 20 years experience as an electronic dance music artist, producer, composer, performer, DJ, promoter, academic and educator. He is a multidisciplinary artist with a deep understanding of pop, funk, disco, punk rock and contemporary electronic music styles as well expertise and experiences across media arts.
As Honeysmack, he appeared on the Zomba, Jive Electro, SonyBMG and Mushroom labels and was an ARIA finalist in 1999 for Best Dance Music Release. He launched independent labels Smelly Records, Idiot House and Hand Made Acid. He performed live electronica at festivals nationally and abroad, had work exhibited at San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and earned co-writing credits with Grammy and Academy awarded songwriter Burt Bacharach.
For many years he has taught in higher and vocational education and currently lectures in the Bachelor of Music Industry at Melbourne Polytechnic while studying for his PhD in music composition at Monash University. He has also worked in various music industry roles including communications, media, print publishing, music journalism, radio, information technologies, music direction and creative consulting for Onelove Music Group, Beat Magazine, Kiss90FM and demonstrated for global brands including Roland, Yamaha and Akai.
