COMPOSITE CONE | PART 3 LIVE MELBOURNE TECHNO ARTISTS | 17th November 11am | CAAMA CLUB

Composite Cone is the pseudonym of Anthony Petrou – a producer in the Melbourne Techno scene. Previously producing under the handle of “Petrou”, Anthony has landed both an EP release, several remixes and an album on one of Melbourne’s premier techno labels: Machine Label as well as tracks on labels such as Italo Business, Freshin and Mystika Records and many more dating back to 2010.

In 2016 he decided to make the change to the name “Composite Cone” in order to reflect his growing studio and production complexity, stylistic changes and personal growth as a Techno artist. His style of Techno is a mixture of eclectic bleeps and bloops, industrial drum rhythms, surgical melodies and heavy basslines, yet at times his music can also be quite sombre and dream like.

Anthony created the early Composite Cone tracks in a garage with an impromptu arrangement of drum machines, DAW’s, synthesizers, and hardware sequencers – which are all strewn across an unused pool table.

2019 saw the release of Composite Cone’s first album, Under The Radar which is out now on Melbourne’s premier Techno label: Machine. The album was all recorded live, with each track being one whole take from start to finish. Genres such as Electro and Ambient were a big influence for this project.
