Artist Bio:

Asinine is an electronic musician who delves into the essence of techno with a distinctly raw yet deliberate sound. His live performances are constantly evolving, moving with intention through playful groovy techno, all the way to moments that are relentlessly harsh and minimal. The influence of 90’s techno, Detroit, acid, and dub comes through clearly.

From the moment he discovered live techno, Asinine was determined to focus on the hardware-based live format. He sees it as an opportunity to showcase a collection of unique, cohesive musical ideas, as opposed to a playlist of short attention-grabbing tracks. Further embedded in this approach is an emphasis on improvisation, where a shared in-the-moment-energy is a key part of the experience for both Asinine as the performer, and the audience.

Since debuting as a live act earlier this year, Asinine has brought his live set to some of Melbourne’s best underground venues, such as Sub Club, 24 Moons, and Rubix Warehouse. He is determined to continue sharing the magic of live techno with as many people as he can and has begun drawing up plans for solo productions in the latter half of 2024, where he will, of course, stay true to the principles of live techno creation.
