Tony de Vit
Tribute to celebrate Tdv’s Blue Plaque Memorial Honour
Sat 15th Oct
Venue: 24 Moons. Northcote

Tony de Vit, the late hard house dj, will be the first dj to receive the honour of a Blue Plaque Memorial in Birmingham.

London’s blue plaques scheme, run by English Heritage, celebrates the links between notable figures of the past and the buildings in which they lived and worked. Founded in 1866, it has inspired many similar schemes in the UK and around the world.

The pioneering dj, producer and label boss, who passed away in 1998 aged 40 is the first
DJ in history to receive the illustrious honour. The plaque will be displayed at the Custard Factory recording studios. Where he recorded over 100 tracks and remixes.

To coincide, UFP are jumping on board with Custard Factory Recording studios, celebrating and honouring a Dj that not only released over 100 tracks – 11 of which would end up in the UK singles chart between 94’ and 98’. But who is also responsible for “breaking down barriers”. Taking the sound of the queer underground into the mainstream in the mid-’90s.

Tony de Vit has influenced a generation of Dj’s, clubbers, promoters and audiences, in not only the UK but around the world. With Melbourne being no exception.

“Melbourne has always adored and loved TdV and what he represents in our scene”. Says Lani G, one of the promoters putting together the event.

Dj’s for the event have been hand picked to express and channel that unmistakable TdV sound. Past, present and future. Playing a mixture of original TdV tracks, TdV remixes, Classics and a very special future take on the TdV sound.
