Event Details

“Celebrating and paying homage to the Original Queenz of Burncity Dancehall” “Queenz of Burncity” is the Official opening party for the inaugural 2025 Aus Dancehall Fest, and proudly presented by Jungle City and the Aus Dancehall Dance Community, in partnership with Section 8.

The 2025 Aus Dancehall Fest is a weeklong celebration of the roots and culture of Jamaican Dancehall, and a platform for Australian based dancer, DJs, and Creatives to highlight their talents and grow our local Dancehall community.

For those who don’t know – Dancehall is a sub-culture seeded on the Streets of Kingston, Jamaica, that over the past few decades has become a global life force of raw, uncensored
Vibez, touching the hearts of people from all walks of life, and from every continent on Earth.
Often mis-represented and watered down by pop-culture trends, the Aus Dancehall Fest is an opportunity for those seeking to ‘appreciate’ Dancehall as authentically as possible – outside of Jamaican – to connect with our local grass-roots community and learn from Jamaican and International guest pioneers and cultural ambassadors.
Our opening Party features a stella line up of the Original Queenz of Dancehall Culture in Naarm who paved the way since the early 2000’s. Selectors Trouble Mekka, Itations, Sista Sara, Bellyas, and the Bad Gyal Quashani Bahd will bring the FYA with everything Dancehall from 90’s classics to current and up to di time bangaz.

Arrive early and journey with us as we reminisce on Burncity’s Dancehall heydays spanning two decades – reuniting the veterans of the scene and opening space for the next gen dancers, and enthusiasts making waves today! Be part of the action on the dance floor or just enjoy the explosive energy as our Jungle City dancers bust their moves and set the space on metaphorical FYA! This will be a night of nights for Dancehall lovers from every era so put on your mesh and let’s make memories as we celebrate Dancehall, Community, and culture.

The 2025 Aus Dancehall Fest Opening Party takes place on Thursday 9th October 6pm – 1am at Section 8, 27 – 29 Tattersalls Lane, Melbourne CBD.

Entry is FREE but capacity is limited so arrive early to avoid missing out!
