As part of the Aus Dancehall Fest 2025 we are excited to present “Jamaican Dancehall ‘Roots & Culture” dance workshop with pioneer and dance creator Latonya Style, live and direct from Kingston, Jamaica.

This workshop is open to both beginners, and more advanced dancers seeking to dive deeper into their knowledge of Jamaican Dancehall roots and culture. Learn Real, Authentic Dancehall from one of the cultures pioneering dance creators Latonya Style, who will be visiting our shores as our guest Jamaican Dancehall Ambassador for the Festival.

About Latonya Style:
Latonya is the Founder & CEO of DanceJA, Stylish Moves, Dancehall Adventures, Online SkoolJa, and Talent PR. With her appealing curves and equally tantalising dance moves, Latonya Style is
undeniably one of Jamaica’s most renowned and distinguished Dance Instructors with more than two decades of experience in her craft. She has been a successful dancehall practitioner since 1999 when she started choreographing and touring with top dancehall Artistes and has performed at every major stage show across Jamaica as well as some overseas. Latonya’s ability to bring her extensive knowledge, lived experience, and phenomenal talent as a dancer to a diverse range of settings, from Major stage shows to university lecture halls makes Latonya a highly sort after Cultural Ambassador for Jamaica and Jamaican Dancehall worldwide.

The Jamaican Dancehall Roots & Culture workshop takes place on:

Wednesday 8th October 7pm – 8:30pm at Jungle City Studio, 3/350 Murray Rd Preston. The session will include a 1-hour dance workshop and 30-minute Q&A about the history, roots, and
culture of Dancehall.
