OK space cadets, it’s time to blast-off into outer space, for an intergalactic funk safari. It’s our 8th year, and once again we’ve scoured the universe to find the hottest DJ lifeforms to spin cosmic funk, spaced out soul, UFO disco and higher being hip hop. That’s right, you’re invited to don your space suit and join us for our annual ‘Funkin’ the Bay’ boat party. It’s gonna more fun than a BBQ at Area 51!

In space, all lifeforms are equal and once again, we’re launching an equal opportunity DJ line-up, that promises to shake the rings off Saturn…

On the Top deck, we have an assortment of space queens here to save the universe with laser guided funk jams. So far, we’ve got the legendary interplanetary turntable rocker, Liz Millar. She’s been making space cadets jive at clubs and festivals since the ‘Big Bang’. She’ll be ably assisted by the legendary funkazoid DJ Ayna… Scratch queen from the alien scene. Guess who’s back? The universal disco slayer Lady Langers, is returning to protect the human race with an impenetrable funk force field.

Down stairs we’ve got a rag tag assortment of space warriors, such as the legendary J-Red, an intergalactic DMC & ITF DJ champion from waaaay back. DJ Peril, chief party rocker and member of the legendary 1200 Techniques. With a fearsome reputation for slaying dancefloors from Mars to The Milky Way, Peril will bring enough heat for the entire solar system. Did we mention Chris Gill? That guy is most certainly from another planet and is renowned for blasting cosmic delights into the funkosphere.

As usual, we have an optional theme. This year it’s ‘Intergalactic Space Funk’, which means you can wear anything, as long as it’s spaced out, futuristic or sci-fi based… The only rule we have is no ‘blackface’. Don’t be a dick!

The best part about this li’l boat party? It’s all for charity. Act, Change, Educate (ACE) and HFCA donate all profits from this party to the Happy School Project and to the Cambodian Homeless World Cup football program. A good time, for a funkin’ good cause… Pew, Pew Pew! (Duh, Laser noises)
